A Relaxed but Classy Wedding except for the dirty kids

About a month ago we received an invitation to Derek's nephew's wedding. The enclosed engagement photo featured the bride-to-be sticking out her tongue. I knew immediately that we'd love her. A couple weeks ago I was able to meet Danielle in person and, indeed, she's a gem. A wonderful christian young lady, perfect for Nick.

Yesterday, Nick & Dani got married. They chose to celebrate their marriage in a very old campground. This campground holds a lot of memories for Derek & I so it was fun to go back, but I wasn't sure what a wedding followed by a "picnic reception" would look like. Well, since Derek's sister in law is practically a professional party planner, I should have known it would be perfect! Her description of what they were going for "relaxed, but classy." I think they accomplished it, except maybe for the dirty kids. My boys were not very excited about going to a wedding until they learned that there would be a playground and sand pit.

Max's prayer

Today at lunch each of the kids said a Mother's Day prayer. Max's was simple to and to the point.

THANK you, God.
Thank YOU, God.
Thank you, GOD!

I can't really add to that. I hope you all had a blessed Mother's day.

*watched a bomb sniffing dog training demonstration
*ate hot dogs, chips & cookies
*toured the "Million Dollar" courtroom
*saw different types of explosives
*listened to Abraham Lincoln give his "Serenade Speech"
*observed the unveiling of the "wall of presidents"
*walked through the Court's Historical Museum
