Yesterday Nate competed in his first State Championship. This was the YMCA 8 & under Swim Championship. All season Nate has been competing against kids who were 8 or under as of Dec. 1, 2008- so in some cases the kids could actually be 9. For this meet the kids competed against their own age group so Nate competed against other 7 year olds. Unfortunately two kids didn't show so Nate's relay teams didn't get to compete but here are his individual results.
25 Free- 11th Place time 24.25- personal best!
50 Free- 12th Place time 1:05.
25 Back- 13th Place time 28.36- personal best!
They give ribbons down to 12th place so Nate gets 2 ribbons from this meet which is great, plus doing his PRs in 2 events was awesome too. Nate had a great swimming season and doesn't really want it to be over. In fact he asked if he could practice with the 9 & 10 years next week just for fun. We'll see about that but we'll definitely be back next fall for another season!
