Relay For Life 2010

Kaylee & I had an amazing experience this weekend. We participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Romeo. The Relay for Life is a 24 hour event where teams of people walk around a track for 24 hours straight because "there is no finish line until we find a cure." Kaylee & I took the second shift and stayed there from around 4pm until 10am the next day. Besides walking around the track, I signed up to participate in a cancer study, and we enjoyed celebrating life with our friends.

We were a little silly. Kaylee & her friends wore tutus for the whole event.

But mostly, we walked, and walked, and walked. I wished I'd kept track of exactly how many laps I did, but I do know that I walked for more than 6 hours total, so I figure that is probably at least 10 miles. Many of the teens walked through the middle of the night. At 2am instead of walking, they danced for an hour!

I personally raised $300, team Polly Pockets raised over $3,000 and The Romeo Relay for Life raised over $80,000! We did all of this because we want everyone to be able to say:

My best friend (or spouse, or child, or parent) is a Survivor!!!

We will keep fighting until we find a cure. Thank you to all who supported me or the cause with a donation. If you haven't had a chance to donate yet and would like to please send me an email.

What a great event for such a necessary cause. I'd really like to participate in this next year. That's really awesome that you were able to do this with your daughter too...sharing your time and being a blessing to so many.

(Love the bottom photo of your three)

I think that whole 24 hours was so much more than expected. Thank you for sharing it with me. I have to say, though, that Romeo Relay raised over $143,00 and Polly Pockets raised over $4400!! So awesome. Thanks for your support!
