DanceXplosion

This weekend Kaylee competed in her first dance competition. Kaylee had a fantasic time at DanceXplosion. On Saturday, we watched the older girls compete in the 16-19 year old division. On Sunday, it was the 15 & unders turn. All the kids from our studio did awesome. We are so proud of Kaylee and everyone from Allard Academy of Dance. Here are Kaylee's results:

Teen (13-15) Modern Solo (Novice)- Plantinum Medal (that's the highest medal)
Small Group Teen Lyrical (Novice) High Gold
Small Group Teen Musical Theatre (Novice) High Gold

Kaylee also got a 1st place trophy for the highest score in her category. (O.k. this was sort of a gimme- she was the only one in the category but they only give it if you score high enough).

Kaylee also got a 1st place plaque as the highest scoring Teen Novice Solo (that's overall the styles of dance).

But the best award that Kaylee got was a Special Judge's Award. Each judge can give up to 5 awards. They give them to whatever dancer catches their eye and impresses them in some way. One of the judges gave Kaylee the "Stage Presence Award". She said that she was giving her special award to a novice dancer that lit up the stage whenever she took it. Then she called Kaylee's name and gave her the award and said "The stage loves you."

We couldn't agree more. Way to Go Kaylee!!! We are so proud of you.

Udderly Confusing

Max started showing a new interest lately... in cows of all things! I really have no idea where this came from because he's my City Boy.

On Friday night we were all watching High School Musical 3, when all of a sudden he said: "I don't want that girl from Church to touch me."

I said "which girl?"

and he said "THE ONE FROM CHURCH!"
(spoken slowly and loudly like I am a complete moron... I think he learned his from his siblings.)

Then he said "I think I'll marry a cow."

At his point Derek & I looked at each other completely perplexed. We still don't know which girl from church has prompted Max's sudden interest in cows.

Tonight, Derek, Max & I were taking a walk around the block. Max looked at a fire hydrant and started talking about houses being on fire, so we used it as an opportunity to try to talk about fire safety (what to do: leave the house, where to go: the neighbors). Max was mostly focused on the firemen coming with hoses, when all of a sudden he said, the fireman has a bad knee so the policemen will have to come. Then he said "What do you do if you have a bad cow?" Again, we have no idea where this cow talk is coming from.

We are udderly confused. (I know you just groaned. But I couldn't resist)
